Affordability, quality and speed of construction combined to drive the enthusiasm for the Lend Lease Beachcomber. The houses were built by around eight franchise builders, using materials supplied by Lend Lease Homes. Lend Lease Homes provided supervision and quality checks.
There was some debate about “the package deal question” at the time, as an article in the Sydney Morning Herald from 1962 shows, with opposing points of view presented by architect Basil Beirman and G.J. Düsseldorp, chairman of Lend Lease Corporation at the time.
